The SLOBC Golf Tournament was a huge success! The overcast day turned sunny but windy and my jacket never came off. The players seemed to be having a lot of fun, and, from the scores that were reported, many had great shots for low scores. Our foursome had a hilarious time with our son’s friend who came from Sacramento. He’s a great golfer and so much fun to play with.

SLOBC appreciates everyone who volunteered their time and donations to help make the tournament a success. Alan Hayashi worked hard and we appreciate all that he did to make sure everything was organized and everyone had a good time. The food at the BBQ held after the tournament at the Hayashi Ranch was delicious as usual. Kudos to the BBQ crew, the SLOBWA ladies who prepared the food and cleaned up afterwards, and the Hayashi Family for their hospitality.

There is an Enchilada Sale in June. There will be vegetarian or meat enchiladas with two enchiladas in a microwaveable tray for $15 each tray. Orders must be pre-paid and made before the event. No orders will be taken on day of pickup which is Saturday, June 20, from 1 to 4 p.m. at SLOBC. The enchiladas are homemade and delicious. They will be in microwaveable trays that can be frozen and quickly heated for an easy lunch or dinner. There is an order form in this newsletter that you can send to Sylvia with your payment or you can go to the slobuddhistchurch.org website, go to “Donations” page, to “Events” and “Enchilada Sale” to make your orders and pay with a credit card.

August 1 is SLOBC Obon Day! We will need all hands on deck and will be asking for helpers for a couple of days before Obon, on Obon day, and for cleanup after Obon. Please rest up and be ready to volunteer your time for this celebration! We will have a sushi workshop like we had last year to prepare inari sushi. We want our volunteers to learn how to make the sushis as uniform as possible for the sale. Watch for the date of the sushi work-shop in next month’s newsletter. Please contact me if you have any questions.
